How the sportsfield is looking half way through - January 2015

The Edendale School have now purchased a tractor mower and a basic irrigation system.  Around two thirds of the pitch has been laid now and the grass we have planted so far is looking good.

It's looking like a football field now!

Power up your Passion and Fire up your Life talk

The author, Nicola Menage gave a motivational talk 'Power up your passion and fire up your life' in November 2014.  All proceeds were donated to the Edendale sportsfield.

Black & Veatch choose the sportsfield as a 'Christmas in October' project

Thanks to the generosity of Black & Veatch, a magnificent total of 3000 sq metres of grass was laid as an act of charity as part of the Christmas in October initiative.

Over 40 people also gave up their free time on Saturday 25 October 2014 to help lay the newly delivered turf.

Golf Day - 5 November 2014

A fabulous day dawned for the 1st Ladies Golf competition which was held at the Silver Lakes Golf Course.  All proceeds went to extra resources for the school (not just the sportsfield).

Fashion Show Success!

Yesterday's Fashion Show raised much needed funds for the Edendale School sportsfield.  A record breaking R15,320 was raised which is a fantastic result.  If you look at the chart here - you'll see we're now over half way to our goal. Many thanks to everyone who bought a ticket to support our charity.

Many thanks too to all the volunteers who agreed to join professional models to model the clothes from Nadine's store at Woodlands and those who prepared and cooked a marvellous lunch for us all.

Charity Fashion Show - Thursday 4 September 2014

Big news!

We’ve arranged a fashion show at a private house on the Silver Lakes Golf Estate by Nadine of Milan, who have a store in Woodlands Shopping Mall.   It will be a good way of seeing how Nadine put together their new spring/summer collection with accessories and you will have a programme on which to make notes!

There will also be other vendors available.  All proceeds will again go towards the sportsfield at the Edendale High School and the ticket price will include a champagne reception and buffet lunch.  I do hope you will be able to support our worthwhile cause – it would be good to see you there!

The Friends of Edendale pay student subscriptions to join Harlequins Rugby Club

In response to a request from the Edendale School, we agreed to pay the annual subs for 7 students who are talented enough to play for the renowned Harlequins Youth Rugby team.  The fees include the kit and we have diverted R4,900 from our fund to allow the boys to play.

DVD covers created to raise funds for Edendale sportsfield

To commemorate the last performance of the White Corollas band, designer Elle Denning created a souvenir cover of a recording the band made last year.  All profits made from the souvenir DVD have gone directly to the Edendale Sportsfield fund.  Take a look at how our sportsfield fundraising is going by clicking here.

Edendale student competes at national level

Michael picked for hurdles event in National Championships

Michael Lehlohonolo, an under 15 years old student is representing his school in hurdle athletics competitions.  Despite not having any hurdles to  practice with, he competed in the District as well as the Gauteng Province Championships.  He achieved a 1^st place during the Gauteng Championships and advanced to the National Championships to participate for National Colours.

Unfortunately he was not successful but gave it his best.  Just imagine what he can achieve with hurdles to practice with and a sportsfield to practice on!!  We will follow his progress closely and keep you up to date of his achievements.
