Cookery Demonstration brings in much needed funds!

Executive Chef at the LivIn Cookery store in Woodlands, Jade du Plessis conducted a

"Tapas Cookery Demonstration"

as a way to raise funds for the much needed sports field of the school.

The fund raiser proved to be a great success, it yielded R9,150 - enough money to buy 915 square meters of grass for the Edendale School!!! The goal is to purchase 6,080 square meters of turf. The Friends of Edendale Group (FOE) is trying to achieve this goal by the end of 2014.

Who we are

Friends of Edendale (FOE) is a group of committed people willing to make a difference in the community. The Friends of Edendale had the opportunity to visit the Edendale Independent School near the Mamelodi area in Pretoria and were impressed with the work and dedication to the children attending the school. However, FOE realized that much more could be done and it was within its power to spark change.

After getting a tour of the school and its facilities, Sonnika Greyling, the Marketing Manager explained their philosophy:

"to develop a school which offers creative ways to bring out every child’s hidden talents and to discipline with love."

After witnessing a moving performance by one of the school choirs, the Friends of Edendale Group was formed and committed to make a difference since every child we met exuded joy.

Our Goals

Edendale is not only a school, they also have two orphanages and a hostel for boys and girls. There are many needs at this school : one of which is a sports field at the high school. The pitch is already leveled and they have already raised the money to cover 4,000 square meters of grass. There’s only 6,080 square meters to go!

Our goal is to raise funds before the end of 2014. Every square meter of grass costs 80p (or $1.40) including transport. Every £8/$14 would lay 10 square meters.You can make a difference to this school. Make your money count!
